The Community Education Provider Network is an organisation, commissioned by Health Education England and hosted by Taurus Healthcare.
Hereford CEPN is developing plans to provide a range of training courses and learning placements for pre-registration nurses, GPs, practice nurses and other primary care staff.
The CEPN operates as a hub and spoke. Taurus Healthcare as host is the hub, GP Practices as primary spokes. In later phases we expect to facilitate student placements across partner organisations e.g. Occupational Therapy or Social Worker placements with Local Authority to provide a more rounded community experience.
The initial priority is to facilitate Pre-Registration Student Nurses into a small number of Practices starting in early 2016. The flow of placements for Pre-Registration Nurse is expected to slowly build up over time as Practice Nurse Mentorship capacity expands, with an expectation that all 24 Herefordshire GP practices would ultimately participate and include Post-Registration Nurse Placements. Once mentorship is well established, placements across other partner organisations such as Herefordshire Carers and Local Authority will be considered. In time a pool of generic mentors are anticipated which could facilitate a broad set of placements for students across the health economy.
